Privacy policy.
How the Council handles information about visitors to this site.
Who we are
This website is published by the National Custom Builders Council, a council of custom home builders convened in 1997. This policy describes what information the site collects, how it is used, and the choices open to you.
What the site collects
If you write to us through the contact page, we receive what you enter: your name, your company, your email address, your telephone number, and your message. We ask for nothing more than we need to reply.
As with any website, your browser sends technical details when it requests a page: your network address, the type of browser and device, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. Our hosting provider records these in its logs in the ordinary course of serving the site.
How it is used
Information you send us is used to answer you. Technical information is used to keep the site running, to keep it secure, and to understand in general terms how it is used. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.
Who it is shared with
We share information only with the providers who host the site and carry our mail, who act on our instructions, and with authorities where the law requires it.
The member firms named on this site are independent businesses. When you follow a link to a member’s own website, that site’s policy governs, not this one.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It keeps a single value in your browser’s session storage so that the opening sequence plays once per visit rather than on every page; it is discarded when you close the browser.
Typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which receives a request from your browser when a page loads and handles it under Google’s own privacy policy.
Retention and security
Messages sent through the contact page are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and are then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider and then discarded.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, though no transmission over the internet is entirely secure.
Your choices
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time. Where the law of your state or country gives you further rights, we will honor them.
Changes and contact
We may revise this policy from time to time; the date at the top records the current version. Questions about it can be sent through the contact page.
